Established 15 years ago, Shasha Designs stands as one of the foremost clothing brands in the Guyanese market. It distinguishes itself not by merely following trends, but by crafting meticulously finished and innovative pieces that cater to diverse tastes and needs.
The debut of Keisha Edwards’ clothing creations, the owner and creative director of Shasha Designs, took place in 2008, during Guyana’s Fashion Week. This marked the beginning of her journey, culminating in her inaugural fashion show in 2010, aptly named “Fierce Expressions.”
A member of the Guyana Fashion council, Keisha has a degree in Fashion and Design from the Caribbean Academy in Trinidad and Tobago, and a degree in Sociology from the University of Guyana. Edwards also holds a certification in Fabric Selection and Design Style from The New School – Parsons School of Design in the USA.
For Edwards, the primary motivation behind her creations is to embody the unique aesthetic of Shasha Designs. Her imaginative pieces are innovative, well-crafted, and emphasize classic silhouettes, prioritizing fit and finish. Her intention is not to chase fleeting trends, but to create designs that are timeless.
Among her favorite creations is the “Garden of the Bride” bridal collection, inspired by the modern woman. Edwards described it as “my thesis collection, which I crafted in my final year of university. It embodied my for bridal fashion, reflecting my growth, knowledge, and technical abilities developed over four years of schooling.”
Accolades have not eluded Edwards, including the “Excellence Award: Innovation in Fashion” at the 2016 Caribbean Style and Culture Awards in Maryland, USA, and the “Young Entrepreneur Brand 40 under 40” in 2019. She has participated in numerous events, notably the inaugural Commonwealth Fashion Exchange, where she designed a sustainable dress that debuted at Buckingham Palace in February 2018. Her collections have graced runways in Guyana, Haiti, Curaçao, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Washington DC, and Maryland in the USA. Her work has been featured in publications such as Shabeau Magazine, Lady, Posh 592, She Caribbean Magazine, and LIAT ZiNG In-Flight Magazine.
Among her upcoming endeavors is her annual fashion event, “Moonlight Stories Guyana Gala and Runway Show,” dubbed the “Met Gala of the Caribbean,” scheduled for 2024. Above all, Edwards remains dedicated to continuous learning in the realm of design.

Creada hace ya 3 lustros, Shasha Designs es considerada una de las marcas de confecciones líderes en el mercado de Guyana, por la originalidad de sus diseños que se ajustan a todos los gustos y necesidades.
La primera vez que las confecciones de Keisha Edwards, propietaria y directora creativa de Shasha Designs, salieron a la luz fue en el 2008, durante la celebración de la Semana de la Moda en Guyana. A partir de entonces decidió presentar su primer desfile en el 2010, el que denominó Fierce Expressions.
Edwards, miembro del Consejo de Moda de Guyana, es graduada en Moda y Diseño de la Academia del Caribe en Trinidad y Tobago y en Sociología de la Universidad de Guyana, ostenta además el certificado en Selección de Telas y Estilo de Diseño de la escuela Parsons School of Design en los Estados Unidos.
Su principal motivación, a la hora de crear prendas, es ver la forma que sean fieles a la estética de la marca Shasha Designs. Confecciones innovadoras, bien hechas, centrándose en el ajuste y el acabado utilizando siluetas clásicas son las prendas que salen de la imaginación de esta artista que no pretende que su trabajo esté a la moda, sino sea atemporal.
“Garden of the Bride, inspirada en la mujer moderna, ha sido mi colección favorita, la creé en el último año de la universidad para mi tesis”, expresó.
El “Premio a la Excelencia: Innovación en la Moda” en el Concurso de Estilo y Cultura del Caribe 2016 en Maryland, Estados Unidos
y, la “Marca de Joven Emprendedor 40 menores de 40” (2019), son algunos de los reconocimientos que ha recibido.
Edwards, ha participado en varios eventos, entre ellos la inauguración del Commonwealth Fashion Exchange, donde diseñó un vestido sostenible que debutó en el Palacio de Buckingham en febrero de 2018. Sus colecciones han aparecido en pasarelas de Guyana, Haití, Curazao, San Vicente y Las Granadinas, Washington DC y Maryland en los Estados Unidos.
Entre sus proyectos futuros se encuentra el evento anual de moda, Moonlight Stories Guyana Gala y Runway Show, conocido como la Met Gala del Caribe, programado para 2024. Sobre todo, Edwards sigue dedicada al aprendizaje continuo en el ámbito del diseño.
