Antigua and Barbuda Celebrates Anniversary of Cuban Medical Assistance

The Deputy Governor-General of Antigua and Barbuda, Clare Roberts, hailed Cuban healthcare assistance as invaluable while commemorating 25 years since the commencement of cooperation.

Inaugurating a photographic exhibition at the Cuban diplomatic mission showcasing milestones of this collaboration, the Deputy Governor-General acknowledged that Cuba provided not just doctors, but also friends, "mentors, and partners in the mission of ensuring public health," he stated.

Highlighting Cuba's commitment to the healthcare development of Antigua and Barbuda, as evidenced in the photos displayed in the exhibition – which has already been shown at the local Parliament – Roberts announced that it would soon be installed at Government House for the "enjoyment of the public and visiting dignitaries."

In his remarks, he reaffirmed Antigua and Barbuda's unwavering support for its relationship with Cuba, stating that "in the face of geopolitical narratives that question these ties, we honor those who serve with integrity and compassion."

The Minister of Health, Molwyn Joseph, Foreign Minister Chet Greene, and Cuban Ambassador Sergio Martínez, who were present at the event, highlighted the achievements of over 200 Cuban professionals who have served in the country, as well as their impact not only in the clinical sphere but also culturally and humanely.
