The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Denzil Douglas, lauded the robust relationship between his country and Cuba this Monday, marking the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties.
In a post on his Facebook profile, the Foreign Minister acknowledged the symbolism and camaraderie that define relations between the two nations, exemplified by an evening event held to commemorate the occasion.
Douglas noted the presence at the commemorative event of government officials, Cuban graduates, members of the Cuban resident community, and representatives from various organizations.
The Foreign Minister also recognized Cuba's support in public health, "particularly during health emergencies and natural disasters, as well as cultural and technical exchange programs," he stated.
In the statement, the Saint Kitts and Nevis leader highlighted remarks made by Cuban Ambassador David Rivero, who recalled that hundreds of young people from the Caribbean nation have received training in Cuban universities in fields such as medicine, engineering, economics, and social sciences, contributing to national and regional development.
Finally, Douglas affirmed that on this anniversary of relations, "this alliance, founded on principles of reciprocity and respect, will continue to grow," and called to "continue writing this chapter of brotherhood together."
