For Cuba, relations with the CARICOM (Caribbean Community) countries are a priority…and this event (FIHAV 2023) cements the foundations for the development of new exchanges with other sister nations of the Caribbean, considered the first vice minister of the Foreign Trade and Investment (Mincex), Ana Teresita González Fraga.
Speaking during the celebration of National Caribbean Day at the 39th edition of the International Fair of Havana (FIHAV), González Fraga highlighted the relevance of the business forum also held this Friday between Cuban and Trinidad Tobago professionals, as it was a great opportunity that allowed business exchanges to identify, enhance and diversify actions that make it possible to boost trade between our nations. She also expressed her desire that a forum be held in the next edition of Fihav in 2024, similar to the countries of the region, for which it will be necessary to work together with the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) in order to attract important representation of Caribbean companies that will surely strengthen our already positive relations.
She later mentioned as another area where progress can be made in narrowing relations of investments and ensured that government structures and companies of the country are ready to respond to each of the requests. Finally, she highlighted that “the presence of you – Caribbean businessmen – at this fair, attests of the confidence placed in the recovery of our economy, of our commercial potentialities and the fulfillment of our commitments.”
Another important moment of the ceremony was when the General Director of CubaPLUS Magazine, Dominic Soave, presented the new CubaPLUS/CARICOM magazine, dedicated to informing about the events of the Caribbean countries, their customs, traditions, art and tourism, which will contribute to making the events and reality of the people of the region more widely known. Region that strives every day for a better future.
Also present at the celebration were Rodolfo Sabonge, general secretary of the AEC, Jude Carrasquero, director of the Trade Facilitation Office of Trinidad Tobago in Cuba and members of the diplomatic corps of the region accredited to the island, as well as other Cuban officials and businessmen in general.
