This edition of CubaPLUS Magazine is very special for those of us who work at the magazine and for you, who have followed us faithfully for the 15 years we are celebrating.
The Caribbean draws visitors from all over the world with its perfect seas and unmatched beaches, laid back lifestyle and rich, varied cultures. So it can be no surprise that the pandemic’s interruption to international travel has led to economic devastation across the region and a heart-rending assault on people’s livelihoods.
At the start of the year, people begin with new impetus to achieve goals they had set themselves before but not managed to reach. This attitude is valid for everything in general.
This year’s third edition arrives after a well-deserved summer break. We’re all now looking towards the end of the year and realising how quickly the time has flown. We’re beginning the countdown with this edition, that starts circulating as FIH (Feria International de la Habana)—the annual Havana international trade fair—is taking place at the ExpoCuba exhibition centre.
Summer is a time of the year everyone looks forward to as both young and old usually take their vacation after a long year of work or study.
I have the pleasure of opening this section with two sets of news that will go down in the history of this treasured island: the first visit of a North American president for eighty-eight years, and one of the biggest concerts given by the legendary Rolling Stones that captivated half a million people in the capital's Ciudad Deportiva sports complex
At the close of this edition, the Cuban and American governments announced simultaneously the restoration of full diplomatic relations, severed in 1961, an important event in the history of both countries.
Summer and the sea, they are inextricably intertwined, and that?s especially true in Cuba. In this issue of Cubaplus, a number of our stories, options and offers have something to do with the sea and its special relationship with the people of this beautiful Caribbean island. Here are a few highlights.
I take great pleasure in welcoming you to Issue #22 of Cubaplus magazine. Our readership continues to grow, and we are sure you will agree that the quality of our magazine continues to improve as well.
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to Issue 17 of Cubaplus magazine, the first issue of the New Year and, as is our custom, full of information about the many wonderful activities that await you in Cuba.
Presenting issue 12 of Cubaplus on behalf of the Cubaplus team is a great pleasure. As you well know, I continuously receive comments from you, our readers, and I enjoy reading them since I am always looking for suggestions for topics to include in Cubaplus. Notably, this is the most historic of all Cubaplus issues. With this issue our magazine begins circulating in all of Cuba for sale with services provided by Prensa Latina News Agency. Cubaplus will be in more than 200 locations in Cuba, so Canadians and other visitors can enjoy reading it.
I'm extremely excited to present to you issue 7 of CubaPLUS magazine. As always, we have included lots of information on this beautiful Caribbean island; both the traditional "must sees" and the unusual. This issue highlights the International Trade Fair of Havana. The event gathers all kinds of business people searching to introduce themselves in the market of Cuba and others already established. Our intention is to dedicate this issue to people coming to FIHAV and to the new Cuba and tourism investment. Cuba is open for business and we are here to show it to you.
We are pleased to bring you our new magazine. My objective in founding this publication is to present to you what is available in Cuba that will both educate and entertain. We hope to reach Canadians who have or are interested in visiting Cuba. We will work in conjunction with the travel industry to promote family oriented vacations to Cuba. We will also cooperate with Canadian solidarity groups that have for many decades supported the struggle and achievements of the Cuban people.
