The twentieth Habano Cigar Festival taking place this spring in Havana will centre around the two prestigious Cuban cigar brands, Cohiba and Partagás, lending a particular sheen to the event.
Considered the most important to-bacco marketing event of its kind, the Habano Cigar Festival brings together experts and executives from the tobacco world as well as fans of the world’s most esteemed premium cigars.
Traditionally the event takes place in Havana’s Palacio de las Convenciones convention centre plus other tobacco-related locations around the city and beyond. This year it runs from 26th February to 2nd March with the usual program spanning presentations of new product lines and features, tastings, visits to plantations and factories, as well as contests and awards.
The festival is organized by Habanos S.A., a global leader in marketing premium cigars with twenty seven exclusively hand-rolled cigar brands on its roster and an exclusive distribution network across more than 150 countries worldwide.
At this year’s festival the elite Cohiba brand will present its first Reserve line, Cosecha 2014 (2014 Harvest).
Partagás will be bringing its Línea Maduro (Mature Line) that was widely appreciated when it first appeared in 2015 and adds two new cigars this year.
The twentieth edition keeps many of the defining features that have made it a famous annual event, always well received by festival goers these past two decades.
Among the popular features are visits to the tobacco plantations in Vuelta Abajo, an area in the west of Cuba known for cultivating the best tobacco in the world, as well as tours of the most well-known cigar factories and an international seminar with talks and practical sessions. Other attractions include the international Habanosommelier contest, the Habanos World Challenge and the Alianza con Habanos event.
The 20th Habano Cigar Festival culminates in an exclusive and glamorous closing night filled with passion for these cigars. The highlight of the evening is an auction of humidors handcrafted by Cuban artisans that has become a festival tradition with profits going to the Cuban public health system.
The Cohiba brand was created in 1966, the first new cigar brand to appear after the Cuban revolution of 1959 and the most in demand worldwide. Partagás is also a worlwide market leader and was founded in 1845 by Spanish tobacco merchant Jaime Partagás.
