For Juan Carlos Mato Collazo, creativity knows no limits. His work is not confined to a single theme; instead, he focuses on a diverse range of subjects that hold special meaning for his clients. In an exclusive interview with CubaPLUS Magazine, he shares his passion for personalized engraving. 
“I work with a variety of themes, creating custom portraits, inspirational phrases, and heartfelt dedications that carry deep significance for my clients. Additionally, I engrave logos, buildings, and any object they wish to immortalize in glass. My goal is to capture the essence of people and their stories, bringing memories and meaningful symbols to life through engraving.”
In 2021, Mato Collazo spoke with CubaPLUS Magazine about his vision of starting his own business. Today, that vision is a reality. “I have successfully established my own glass engraving business. It has been an exciting journey— full of challenges but also incredibly rewarding. Being able to share my art with others is truly fulfilling.”
Beyond creating unique pieces, Juan Carlos has also dedicated himself to passing on his knowledge of freehand glass engraving, a meticulous technique that allows for an unmatched level of personalization and detail—something rarely found in mass-produced items. As he puts it, “Each piece is unique and reflects the emotional connection between the client and the design. I love sharing my passion and helping others develop their artistic skills.”

Looking to the Future
Like any dedicated artist, Juan Carlos has ambitious plans. He aims to expand his business, explore new techniques and materials, and possibly host workshops to teach this exquisite art form to more people.
When asked what message he would like to leave his audience, he highlights the significance of personalization in art.
“I want to emphasize the importance of customization in artistic expression. Every piece I create tells a story and represents an emotional bond with the person who commissions it. In an increasingly digital world, I also want to stress the value of handcrafted art—it is something truly special and irreplaceable.”
