Spanish tenor Plácido Domingo, 75, will perform for the first time in Cuba next Saturday November 26, at Havana’s Great Theater Alicia Alonso.
The singer, producer and composer will also be accompanied by the National Symphonic Orchestra of Cuba directed especially by Eugene Kohn, along with Puerto Rican soprano Ana Maria Martinez.
Cuban authorities said that the great tenor will present a repertoire dedicated to Cuban music, going through operas, zarzuleas, Cuban songs and the work of Gonzalo Roig and Ernesto Lecuona, among other important authors of the Island.
Besides, the show will be broadcasted thru several screens located on the outskirts of Havana's Great Theater, an effort sponsored by Cuban Ministry of Culture, the Cuban Music Institute and the National Council of Performing Arts.
Domingo always said he wanted to perform on the island where his parent appeared often with their touring company.
