Located at the entrance of the town El Cobre, located one kilometer to the National Sanctuary of the Virgin Caridad del Cobre, hotel “Los peregrinos” (The Pilgrims) is the ideal place to rest in the way to the Catholic Church and shrine of the Patron of all Cubans.
The hotel, a building refurbished and recovered from a deteriorated patrimonial house, has eight rooms, one of which is for wed couples and the rest are double, all with air conditioned, cold and hot water, satellite TV, Wifi, among other facilities.
An area for breakfast, another resting area with hammocks and covered with palm leaves, security box and parking space complete complete the services available in this facility that also has a lookout balcony that allows national and foreign tourists to see a spectacular landscape of the town and the Sanctuary.
Near the hotel there are several interesting sites beside the Sanctuary, among them the historical monument El Cimarron (Runaway Slave), the Copper Mines –first open mines in Latin America-, Laguna Azul (Blue Lagoon) and, of courswe the city of Santiago de Cuba.
Beside “Los Peregrinos” , the town will soon have hotel “El Cobre”, located some 500 meters from the Sanctuary with 18 rooms with air conditioned in the first stage; restaurant, cafeteria, lobby-bar, safe security box and parking area, among other services.
Both hotels belong to the Cubanacan Group, they will allow “El Cobre” to become an ideal site for cultural, social and nature tourism, besides contributing Santiago de Cuba to develop the idea of pilgrimage, as it happens with Santiago de Compostela, Spain, with “Los Caminos de Santiago”, Catholic pilgrimage of medieval origin, which corresponds to different itineraries in Spain and France, declared i8n 1987 the first “European Cultural Itinerary” by the European Council.
