Sunrise Airways Inaugurates New Route to Havana

The airline Sunrise Airways on Wednesday opened a new route from Las Americas International Airport (AILA), in the Dominican Republic, to this capital, with a stopover in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

Company President Philippe Bayard told Prensa Latina that the airline has been working in the Caribbean connection for more than four years. Bayard added that on Wednesday, an air and especially cultural bridge was established between three major Caribbean countries: the Dominican Republic, Cuba and Haiti, which will benefit more than 35 million people. Sunrise Airways is one of the fastest-growing airlines in the region, carrying more than 200,000 passengers in the first ten months of 2018, he added. The new route will have two weekly flights, on Wednesdays and Sundays, departing from the AILA, in Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic, at 07:00 hours, local time. On the other hand, the return flight will depart from the José Martí International Airport, in Havana, at 5:30 p.m., local time. In 2019, the airline plans to open two other routes to Santa Clara (center) and Holguín (east), in Cuba; Kingston, in Jamaica, and it later will connect Santo Domingo and Curacao, the company's president told Prensa Latina in June 2018.
