Dear Readers:

Cuba, a small Caribbean island, dedicates its daily efforts to strengthening the country’s economic and social life. Despite the economic challenges it faces, two key sectors drive its goals: tourism and healthcar.

With the arrival of this edition of CubaPLUS Magazine, April and May are marked by two major events: the 5th International Health Convention, Cuba Salud 2025, and the 43rd International Tourism Fair (FITCuba 2025). Both represent unique opportunities for the island to showcase its strengths on the international stage, attracting a greater flow of visitors and generating revenue to bolster its economy.

Cuba Salud 2025, beyond its theoretical program, will feature two exhibitions: “Health for All” and “FITSaludCuba.” The first will highlight Cuba’s medical services and products, while the second will showcase attractive health tourism options, focusing on wellness and quality of life, both highly valued globally.

Following these events, Havana will welcome more than 5,000 professionals, tour operators, and travel agents from around the world at the iconic Morro Cabaña Complex for FITCuba 2025. This year, the fair will celebrate Cuban traditions and host the People’s Republic of China as the guest of honor—a market with immense potential to boost the island’s tourism recovery. In this edition, we delve into both Cuba’s cultural heritage and Chinese influence on the island through two must-read articles.

This issue also celebrates Cuban art, profiling remarkable creators. Discover Iván Carbonell, a painter who captures the essence of faces on his canvases, revealing their connection to nature. Admire the bold forms of Modesto Concepción, a sculptor who challenges the limits of shape. Marvel at the mastery of Juan Carlos Mato, a printmaker who transforms glass into art. And experience the photography of Theder Castro, whose images pay tribute to the beauty and resilience of the island.

In our fashion section, we introduce four brands with innovative designs. Vihumos creates unique handbags from repurposed cigar boxes. Marabū, a brand synonymous with “Made in Cuba,” blends tradition and modernity in functional, emotive garments. Saday Modista reinvents the classic guayabera, while Capicúa is committed to sustainability through its Moods and Capsules collections that explore different facets of its design.

We invite you to immerse yourself in the rhythm of Rumba in our article dedicated to this vibrant musical genre and to explore modern Cuba at www.cubaplusmagazine.com.

Cordially yours,
