The 37th edition of the Havana International Fair (FIHAV 2019) concluded after five days of successful exhibitions and negotiations as it demonstrated that Cuba continues to advance and will continue to promote the planned economic and social development plans.Speaking to the press, after the closing ceremony, the Foreign Trade and Investment Minister Rodrigo Malmierca added that the Fair was a demonstration that foreign businessmen trust the Cuban market, despite external pressures and the unfair blockade against the greater of the Antilles.During the fair, he said, three agreements were signed for new associations with foreign investment capital, one of them to be located in the Mariel Special Development Zone and other good business deals done between national and foreign entities.During the closing ceremony, prizes were awarded, as traditionally FIHAV grants to participating exhibitors, including the best designs, food products, Habitats and Appliances and Social Communication.The big winner, this time, was Havana Club International S.A. which received an award in the category of the food industry for its Havana Club 1519 rum; in Habitat and Appliances to the new Havana Club Cuban Smoky rum; also The Social Communication Award, the Grand Prize for Integral Communication, as well as the Havana Special 500 Award to raising the name of the city to the top of productive excellence, representing the cosmopolitan spirit throughout the world through exquisite spirits, as well as creating rum 1519, this last recognition granted by the authorities of the province.Many other national and foreign entities received numerous awards, including 35 among Cuban exhibitors, who won the Gold Medal for Quality to 19 products from countries such as Spain, Germany, Netherlands, Russia, Sweden, China and Portugal.On the other hand, the organizing committee of FIHAV recognized the United Arab Emirates for its outstanding participation, the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) for its presence as a regional bloc and Spain for being the most represented country.FIHAV 2019 was held for five days at the EXPOCUBA fairgrounds with the participation of over two thousand businesspeople from around 60 countries.
