Acosta Danza celebrates five years since its foundation
The Cuban dancing company Acosta Danza marks five years since its foundation, during which period it has shown great professionalism in all the stages where it has performed, inside and outside the Island.
A statement released in Havana by the group indicates that the company, led by its director, dancer Carlos Acosta, ratifies the will to maintain the culture of the Caribbean nation as its main reference, while persisting in the effort to nourish itself with the best of international choreographic arts and show the world the creation of the island.
The international recognition achieved by the company, including the Dance Magazine award from the United States, which recently recognized its director for such a prolific career, reflect the quality and talent of its members who have performed in the most dissimilar stages, with the highest public recognition.
Among the presentations, the note highlights those of the Royal Opera House, the Royal Albert Hall and the Sadler's Wells Theater in the United Kingdom, as well as on stages in China and the United States, among others.
The statement also highlights the work of its Artistic Teaching section during these five years, in which Cuban students and scholarship holders from other countries receive a mixed training that prepares them to join the cast of any company in the future.
Finally, the note indicates the will of Acosta Danza to continue working towards the development of Cuban arts, confident that it will soon be able to meet its audience when the circumstances imposed by the current world epidemiological situation change.
