With the arrival of 622,128 Canadian vacationers until last July, this North American country remains the leading source of tourists to Cuba, a position it has held for more than 30 years, according to figures published by the National Office of Statistics and Information (ONEI).

According to a recent report from this institution, this figure represents 42.52% of the total of international visitors, which was 1,463,097 in the first seven months of this year. The second place went to the Cuban community abroad with 179,746 and the third to the Russian Federation with 123,358.

Next came the United States with 95,804, Germany with 40,226, Mexico with 37,086, Spain with 36,965, France with 33,849, Argentina 28,978, Italy 25,344 and other countries with 239,613 vacationers.

According to ONEI, regarding the total number of travelers, which includes both vacationers and people on other types of trips, until last month the registered figure was 1,905,644, which represents 99.2% compared to the same period in 2023. In this category, Canada also occupied the lead with 630,039 passengers.

The number of vacationers registered up to last July represents almost 50% of the number of tourists that the country expects to receive in 2024, which, according to the authorities, should reach just over three million, which predicts the fulfillment of that objective.
