Cienfuegos Marks 200 Years of its Foundation

The also called The Pearl of the South, the Southcentral city of Cienfuegos, marked on April 22 the 200th anniversary of its foundation, in grandiose beauty and splendour, attracting both national and foreign tourists.

Located some 254 kilometers East of the Cuban capital, this city has the title of Cultural Heritage of Humanity given by the United Nations Education, Science and Culture Organization (UNESCO)  for its elegance and conservation.

In this beautiful city there are numerous buildings of neo-classical style, such as the catedral of our Lady of the Pure Conception, the San Lorenzo College, the Town Hall, and the Theatre Tomas Terry, all very well refurbished.

Located at the shore of the homonymous bay, Cienfuegos also boasts of many attractions for lovers of culture and history, allows the practice of watersports, ecological tourism and adventure tourism, all of which are promoted by its authorities and has also many followers, above all foreign visitors due to its beautiful landscapes for deep-sea diving above all in the zone of Guajimico. For its beauty, Cienfuegos inspired a melody whose chorus says…”Cienfuegos is the city I like the most”, interpreted by the deceased Cuban Singer Benny More, known all over the world.
