Cuba 2020 Business Forum inaugurated
The Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca, inaugurated this Tuesday the Cuba 2020 Business Forum, which is held virtually, with the participation of over 1,200 representatives from 93 countries.
During the opening, Malmierca presented the new Foreign Investment Business Opportunities Portfolio of the country that includes 503 projects, of which 119 are linked to oil exploitation, while 131 are related to tourism, whose value is calculated at about $ 12.70 million.
Later, he announced the publication of the island's offer of exportable goods and services for the 2020-2022 biennial, which includes, among others, traditional products such as rum and Habano cigars.
In another part of his speech, the official said that in the last year 34 new businesses were materialized for a value of 1,895 million dollars, mainly in the branches of tourism, construction, mining and industry.
During this forum, which ends tomorrow Wednesday, various conferences will take place on the progress of the Mariel Special Development Zone and the business possibilities it offers for foreign investment, as well as on the progress made by the Foreign Trade and Investment Window, among others.
For the host country, in addition to government executives and the Chamber of Commerce, representatives of universities, cooperatives and self-employed workers attend.
This virtual meeting is considered of great importance for the exchange between the business community of the Greater Antilles and the rest of the world, because this year it was impossible to hold the International Fair of Havana, due to the difficult epidemiological situation caused by the Covid-19 pandemic in the world.
