Cuba is seeking to jointly develop its railway transport sector with Russia, the island nation’s First Deputy Minister of Transportation, Luis Roberto Roces, stated today in an interview with the news outlet Prime.ru.
“Seventy percent of our country’s rolling stock is of Russian origin, and we are deeply interested in carrying out various projects with the Eurasian nation,” Roces explained.
Attending the International Transport Summit hosted in Moscow, the official underscored the critical priority Cuba places on advancing its rail network, particularly amid current conditions marked by the intensification of the U.S. economic blockade against the island.
The International Transport Summit serves as a platform bringing together municipal leaders, transport executives, and leading industry and technology experts.
The event focuses on urban development strategies, solutions to pressing transportation challenges, and the fostering of international cooperation.
