Cuba Celebrates 180 Years of Partagás

Premium cigar producers and experts are celebrating the 180th anniversary of the Partagás cigar brand, one of the most important in the global tobacco market. This Wednesday, and throughout the week, the quality of one of the oldest and most outstanding Cuban cigar brands will be appreciated, as Habanos S.A. Corporation presents the exclusive Cedros, also in commemoration of the Chinese New Year, according to a statement from the marketing company.

The new Cedros vitola (ring gauge or diameter of 50 by 135 millimeters long) is a new addition. Specifically, the Cedros presentation took place at an event held at the Murray Hotel in Hong Kong, according to the statement. The evening brought together 180 guests, who enjoyed a dinner specially designed for the occasion in a festive atmosphere steeped in tradition.

This exclusive edition celebrates the Year of the Snake (Wood). According to the Chinese lunar calendar, the snake represents qualities such as wisdom, while wood represents strength and the capacity for growth. This is undoubtedly a perfect opportunity to pay tribute to the fundamental role that a material as noble as wood has played in preserving the aromas and organoleptic qualities of cigars throughout history.

Partagás Cedros is a limited edition cigar distinguished by its careful presentation in an elegant case containing 18 cigars. Each of these cigars was made Totally by Hand with Long Filler, using wrapper, filler, and binder leaves selected from the Vuelta Abajo plains in the western Cuban province of Pinar del Río.

This region is recognized worldwide as the birthplace of the finest tobacco, thanks to its exceptional soils, unique climate, and centuries-old tradition of tobacco cultivation. These conditions allow for the production of leaves of unparalleled quality, essential for making the most prestigious cigars. Thanks to this superior selection, Partagás Cedros offers a smoking experience rich in flavor and perfectly balanced strength, according to the tasting note.

Beyond celebrating the Chinese New Year, this launch stands as a tribute to the rich history of the brand, which for 180 years has been a benchmark of quality and prestige in the tobacco industry. They comment that this special edition will be available through exclusive distributors of Habanos, S.A. With this new release, Partagás reaffirms its commitment to tradition, innovation, and excellence.

Habanos Corporation, S.A. is a world leader in the marketing of premium cigars, both in Cuba and around the world. Partagás is a Cuban cigar brand founded in 1845 by Don Jaime Partagás y Ravell, making it one of the oldest brands in Havana. It produces strong-tasting cigars in a wide variety of sizes. Among the best-known are the Serie D No. 4 (Robusto), the Serie D No. 3 Limited Edition (relaunched in 2006), the 8-9-8 Dalia.

La Flor de Tabacos of Partagas appeared in the trademark registry of 1827. Its creator, of Spanish origin, was the owner of a small tobacco factory in Havana in 1827. It took him 20 years to gain investors interested in his project. When he had the necessary support, he founded the company La Flor de Tabacos de Partagás y Cía.
