Cuba Participates in the World Tourism Event in Assisi, Italy

Cuba is currently participating in the 17th edition of the World Tourism Event (WTE) in the Italian city of Assisi. This year’s event is dedicated to the promotion and enhancement of UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Cuba’s presence at the forum highlights the diversity of the Caribbean island's tourism offerings, with a particular emphasis on its cultural and natural heritage, history, and traditions—elements that define the nation’s unique identity.

During the event, Yanet Mora, Tourism Counselor at the Cuban Embassy in Rome, is engaging in high-level exchanges with industry professionals and operators. These meetings are aimed at showcasing the destination's potential and exploring new promotional and commercial opportunities within the Italian market.

Mora stated that a key objective is to identify avenues for expanding Cuba's footprint in segments specifically linked to cultural and heritage tourism.

According to the Cuban delegation, participation in this summit offers a strategic opportunity to further strengthen the country’s positioning in Italy. It serves to provide both professionals and the public with a more comprehensive vision of the destination, showcasing Cuba’s rich historical and natural assets alongside its traditional "sun and beach" products.

Mora also noted that these discussions provide a platform to address Cuba’s current reality and the challenges the country faces, including the impact of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade, as well as the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the U.S. government.

The WTE professional program includes B2B meetings designed to establish commercial partnerships and launch new products, complemented by an exhibition space open to the public and activities focused on both tangible and intangible cultural heritage.

Key themes for this year’s edition include sustainable mobility, cultural and natural itineraries, and the role of cultural and religious routes in the revitalization of local territories.
