Cuba will restart school year in September
The school year, interrupted in Cuba due to the Covid-19 pandemic, will restart next September, the Minister of Education, Ena Elsa Velázquez, announced.
The minister stated that due to the epidemiological situation it is advisable that students return to the educational institutions within three months, although teaching activities have never stopped through televised classes.
At the right time, the students will also be able to enjoy their vacation period, added the minister, who appeared Tuesday in the Round Table program on national television.
Meanwhile, Velázquez pointed out that programming of the teleclasses was readjusted at all teaching levels with emphasis on the subjects with pending evaluations.
She also pointed out that the Cubaeduca web portal and the application for Android devices MiclaseTV maintain free of charge the possibility of downloading the contents of the different grades.
She clarified that once the course has resumed, the process of continuity of studies for those who complete the Basic Secondary level will be carried out, following all the steps foreseen with the required clarity and transparency.
Regarding children's daycare facilities, she confirmed that 30 percent of these centers are open always respecting hygiene measures.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education is preparing modifications to study plans for the 2020-2021 school year, which will begin after the end of the current school period (2019-2020), reported the head of the sector.
