Mixed companies of Cuban food industry are working today to increase their production capacities in the country, Nancy Alejano, vice-president of Corporacion Alimentaria S.A., Coralsa, told Prensa Latina.
During the celebration of the International Fair of Food, Beverages and Food Technology, held in recent days at Pabexpo exhibition complex in Havana, the official commented on the satisfaction of the entrepreneurs participating in the event. The board of Coralsa -a Cuban mercantile company, created in 1995, with shareholding in businesses and mixed-capital companies in the food sector- ensured that all the entities present at the meeting complied with their program of presentation of the different products. A business forum was held with a large participation of foreign exhibitors interested in knowing first-hand the projects we have in our portfolio, it said. Likewise, entrepreneurs who already have operations in Cuba -many of which have already extended their agreements with their national counterparts- shared their experiences about the Island with new stakeholders. Potential investors who established, from the forum, negotiations that can be developed in Cuba were also identified. They even expressed interest in the Mariel Special Development Zone. Coralsa vice president also added that contacts were established with suppliers of both machinery and raw materials, mainly in those areas where alternative suppliers were required. In addition to the 110 participating entities, 70 of them foreign, and spread over an exhibition area of 4,000 square meters, the number of business rounds held at the Fair also increased, said to Prensa Latina the commercial manager of Fira Barcelona, an entity in charge of the organization of the event, Damian Rodriguez. Cuba is currently promoting a Development Program in the Food Industry where it is estimated that 1,440 million dollars should be executed up to 2030.
