The 'Comandante Ernesto Che Guevara' cobalt and nickel production factory in Moa metallurgical mining municipality of this eastern Cuban province, is preparing to certify its fifth exportable item, according to reports.
Alexander Garces, director of Technical Services to the production of that factory, stressed that the nickel sulphide quality certification once again guarantees the optimal production process they have. The factory has the business management system by ISO 9001:2015 certification from Lloyd's Register, which confirms the commitment of that entity for the continuous improvement of its processes, in order to meet the needs and expectations of its customers, Garces said. The 'Comandante Ernesto Che Guevara' factory, along with the 'Pedro Soto Alba' factory, are the two major metallurgical mining industries in Cuba, which are currently harmed by the US economic blockade, causing the loss of resource suppliers, customers, among other aspects. Despite US sanctions, Cuba ranks among the world's top 10 nickel producers, a position backed by the quality of that mineral.
