Havana will be dressed for a party next week when it becomes the world capital of percussion, with the celebration of the 18th edition of the Drum Feast &Guillermo Barreto in Memoriam", from March 4 thru 10.
In a press conference held at the Havana Hotel Memories Miramar, the President of that important musical meet, Giraldo Piloto, explained the details of the program which, like in previous years, includes numerous concerts of outstanding Cuban and foreign musicians, percussion competitions, popular dances, master clases and numerous exchanges with renowned national and international artists.
On this occasion, the guest country invited to the event is Spain, reason why important Spanish musicians are expected to attend like Diego El Cigala and the famous pianist Laura de los Angeles, among others.
He mentioned among foreign participants Joachim Horsley (United States), as well as Repercussion Chantal Simard, Robert Lepine, Luc Langlois and Aldo Mazza (all from Canada).
For Cuba will perform in the different stages that will serve as venue of this party a great constellation of music stars, among which are Giraldo Piloto and the group Klimax, The Papines, Alain Perez, Los Van Van Orchestra, Rodney Barreto, Oliver Valdes, Daimé Arocena, Leonel Limonta and Azúcar Negra (Black Sugar), Timbalaye and Cimafunk, among many others.
For his part, Mabel Castillo, Vice President of the Cuban Music Institute, highlighted the importance of this event, very much awaited each year, not only by the public, but also by the musicians, as it enables them to establish a great professional Exchange.
The press round started with the performance of Habana Compas Dance, group that filled the expectations of those present and showed the quality and professionality of this important musical event.
