Iberojet airline opens office in Cuba

The Spanish airline Iberojet opened its first office in Havana on Monday, seeking to consolidate its position as a benchmark among the airlines that link Spain and Cuba.

Speaking to CubaPLUS Magazine, the president of that company, Paúl Verhagen, assured that the opening of this representation at the Miramar Trade Center, in Havana, constitutes a new stage of business consolidation and a sign of Iberojet#39;s commitment to Cuba.

The executive recalled that the airline has been flying to the island for eight years -until now under the name Evelop-, during which it only interrupted its services for a short time as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, and was the first airline to resume trips to Cuba when sanitary conditions improved.

He explained that currently Iberojet travels twice a week to Havana, in January it plans to add a third frequency and for the summer of next year it plans to increase up to five flights every seven days on the Madrid-Havana route, and one from Lisbon to Varadero . This will mean a number of journeys higher than the stage prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, he pointed out.

Upon leaving the inaugurated office, Joaquín Mateo, Iberojet director for America, highlighted the importance of the consolidation of the entity as a reference operator among the airlines that link Spain and Cuba, a space that has been gaining ground since the beginning of its operations on the island in 2013.

He also informed that today an office will also be opened in the capital#39;s José Martí International Airport, with the aim of guaranteeing a higher quality service to Iberojet customers. For his part, the consul of Spain in Cuba, José Antonio Hernández Pérez, present at the ceremony, pointed out that this event constitutes one more example of the commitment of the Spanish business community to this country.

Iberojet is part of the airline division of the &Aávoris business corporation, with more than 85 years of experience and specialization in the commercialization of leisure, vacation and business trips, backed by the important groups Barceló and Globalia. The merger of both groups in 2020 gave way to a company that integrates travel agencies, receptive services and an airline company with four billion euros in turnover, six thousand employees and more than 1,500 points of sale.
