Institutions from Canada and Guyana will work to improve mental health

The International Development and Relief Foundation (IDRF), the implementing agency of Global Affairs Canada (GAC), and the American University of Texila (TAU) have just signed a memorandum of understanding that provides for joint work to strengthen programs aimed at raising awareness and addressing the issues of mental health affecting Guyanese.

According to information disclosed in Georgetown, both institutions are currently collaborating in the development of a reference study for the project "Safeguarding human dignity and the rights of populations at risk of mental ill health (SPAR)”, which will also allow TAU students to participate in the data collection process.

The American University of Texila, which has further supported this initiative by providing access to training facilities and mobilizing students and other resources, has been dedicated to developing great minds in the field of medicine for more than a decade and currently hosts students from twenty-six countries formed in this branch of medicine.

The IDRF is a Canadian charity that has empowered people in Canada and around the world since 1984. It has been recognized internationally as one of Canada's best-run charities for its effectiveness, efficiency and results, and has supported programs in Guyana for over 20 years.
