The 4th BRICS Fashion Summit, featuring representatives from over 60 countries, commenced this Monday in Moscow and is scheduled to run through September 30.
Over the course of the three-day event, fashion industry delegates from across these nations—including China, India, Brazil, Türkiye, Iran, Vietnam, and other rapidly growing economies—will address key industry developments, emerging technologies, consumer behavior, investment, and the role of cultural heritage in modern fashion, according to a press release from the organizing committee.
A central theme of the opening day was "fashion as the symbolic capital of the city." Panelists discussed the impact of local brands, specialized events, and street style on the public image of megacities, exploring how these elements help attract tourism, talent, and capital, while boosting the international profile of global cities.
Monday's agenda also featured a session on the role of artificial intelligence in the creative process. Experts examined the application of neural networks in fashion design, intellectual property and authorship concerns, and the ethical risks associated with emerging technologies. Upcoming discussions will focus on investment in creative industries and high-tech materials.
Summit participants are also slated to debate the broader transformation of the global fashion industry driven by AI, digital platforms, online marketplaces, hyper-personalization, and shifts in consumer behavior.
Day one concluded with a session dedicated to value marketing and the development of fashion brand identity.
Discussions on Tuesday and Wednesday will continue to explore support for local brands, traditional craftsmanship, the economic impact of fashion weeks, certification processes, the jewelry sector, and brand expansion into related industries.
The summit runs alongside the 7th Moscow Fashion Week, which concludes on October 1.
