Unusual Photo Contest With Nature as Theme

An unusual photo contest is being organized by Cuban authorities for next February, dedicated to capture birds in very attractive sites of this archipelago.

The commercial director of the Cuban Travel Agency Ecotur, Francisco Longino, revealed to Prensa Latina that the photo contest Flying Photo 2019 is a novelty. Organizers are convinced this will attract many participants as traveling the world looking for nature images is a practice with many fans over the world. Thus, travel to catch birds flying is a practice loved by many who want to prove their skills in contests such as this organized by Ecotur, which experts themselves evaluate as a success, programmed from February 18 thru 23, will have the western zone of the swamp Cienaga de Zapata, one of the most important wetlands in the Caribbean and where every year arrive migratory birds to nest or rest to continue their chartered flights. This event for photographers is sponsored by the Cubanacan group and the TropikVedeta Agency. Photographers will hike through paths in the zone of Playa Giron with suggestive paths such as Soplillar, Las Salinas, Comunidad Los Hondones, Enigma of the Rocks, Las Bermejas, La Turba and St. Thomas. At the same time, during the days of the contest, participants will be able to know cultural and agricultural traditions of that region, with farming and the making of coal-making ovens. They described the contest as unique because it can be attended both by professionals, amateurs and nature lovers through a free registration (dir.comercial@hab.ecotur.cu), which already has a high demand. Natural landscapes represent today a strong attraction for many persons worldwide that arrive at this island interested in active vacations, above all in nature and adventure circuits. Taking pictures of those landscapes and the birds inhabiting them at present is a significant challenge for many photograph lovers. The contest is organized with the election of selected trails by participants, after knowing their details and difficulties. However, the most significant value of this kind of event lies in discovering the challenges and attractions of such landscapes, putting each day this island on the route of places where it is necessary to visit in order to photograph nature. Another interest in the Giron region is that in 1961, forces of then just born Cuban Revolution (1959), defeated an invasion with forces organized by the United States, reason why many foreigners want to know the place, according to historians.
