Varadero has always been one of the favorite destinations for Canadian tourism and we hope this loyalty for Cuba and, especially, for our spa, is maintained, said Ivis Fernández Peña, delegate of the Ministry of Tourism (MINTUR), in Matanzas.
In a press conference held this Friday at the Melí Internacional hotel in Varadero, the executive referred to the preparation of that destination with a view to the reopening of borders starting next November 15 and the repair and maintenance work of the hotel facilities and non-hotel companies in recent months to offer better and more attractive services to visitors.
In an aside with CubaPLUS Magazine, Fernández Peña referred to the Canadian market and added that it has always been the main issuer of Varadero and, unlike other markets, that country “is received in Cuba as part of the Cuban family.
Canada is very loved here and tourists from that nation have always taken great pleasure visiting our destination”, she said.
"Really, that loyalty that Canada has always had to Cuba we hope will be maintained and that they can see what we have prepared to be able to take care of them and guarantee them a unique experience during their visit to Varadero," the official reiterated.
Since 1996, Canada has been the first source of tourists to Cuba and in 2019 it registered more than 1,120,000 visitors, most of whom visited Varadero for at least one day.
