Varadero resort ready for reopening

The Varadero resort, main tourist sun and beach center in Cuba, is ready to start activities with the international market as soon as conditions allow, always under the hygienic-sanitary measures established by the country's health authorities.

In statements to the press, the delegate of the Ministry of Tourism (Mintur) in the western province of Matanzas, Ivis Fernández, said “Varadero is a safe destination. We know the role of tourism in the development of the nation and this opening, when indicated by the country, will have an excellent performance and we will continue to prepare '.

During the period of inactivity, due to the situation caused by the Covid-19, Cuban authorities decided to undertake maintenance and repair work on the facilities, as well as other initiatives, including the creation of vegetable plantations and other varieties of plants to take advantage of inactive spaces in food production.

One of the facilities undergoing capital repair is the important Plaza Convention Center America, which since its founding more than two decades ago, has hosted countless international conferences and trade shows.

The International Tourism Fair (FITCUBA) is expected to be held there next May, postponed this year due to Covid-19.

Known throughout the world for its crystalline waters and fine sand, Varadero currently has around 50 hotels with over 22 thousand rooms and numerous extra-hotel facilities that exceed twenty restaurants, several cabarets and discos, as well as extensive recreational options, including the highly demanded nautical activities.
