International School Golf Tournament a Big Success

Every year, the International School of Havana organizes the ISHavana Open Golf Tournament. The most recent competition took place on December 8, 2012, and was hosted by the Havana Golf Club.

International School Golf Tournament a Big SuccessThe 2012 ISHavana Golf tournament was organized to raise funds for supporting a development plan for a new Performing Arts centre that it is hoped can be built at the school in the future.

The organizing committee arranged the tournament and invited golfers from both the Havana Golf Club and the school community to take part; 64 players participated, and 4,844 Cuban convertible pesos (CUC) were raised by the event.

International School Golf Tournament a Big SuccessThe ISHavana Open has evolved over the years, and was previously known as the Commonwealth Golf Tournament, organized by the British Embassy in Havana. In 2005 the school assisted the Embassy in organizing the event for the first time, and since then has hosted the competition with the aim of raising funds to support development projects for the school.

Past tournaments have raised funds that have been used to help pay for the expansion and development of the school library, as well as other special projects, such as sound equipment for classrooms. Every year, the tournament has raised sums ranging from 2,500 to 4,500 convertible pesos (CUC).
