The President of the Parliament of Dominica, Joseph Isaac, reaffirmed this Wednesday the importance of the relationship with Cuba and underlined his country's commitment to justice and solidarity with the island.
In a meeting with the ambassador of the island, Miguel Fraga, the Dominican parliamentarian reviewed the state of bilateral relations and described them as an expression of the spirit of collaboration and friendship between both countries. For his part, the Cuban representative highlighted the importance of unity between sister nations, and thanked the unconditional support of the people and authorities of Dominica for Cuba's battle against the United States blockade.
The meeting took place on the occasion of the delivery to Isaac of letters from the President of the Cuban Parliament, Esteban Lazo, and from the Parliamentary Group of Friendship with the Commonwealth of Dominica, thanking him for the permanent support and solidarity in the international arena. The letters specifically acknowledge the resolution unanimously approved on December 16 by the Parliament of Dominica, in which it spoke out against the US policy of economic pressure and for the removal of Cuba from the list of state sponsors of terrorism.
Dominica and Cuba have maintained diplomatic relations since the late 1990s, consolidated as part of Havana's ties with the Caribbean Community, in which common agendas prevail on issues of sovereignty, independence and development.
