Located in the province of Artemisa and made up of over two dozen business, production and cooperative units, San Cristóbal Agricultural Company sells nationally large and small livestock, milk, meat and meat by products, grains, cereals, vegetables, fruit, as well as firewood for fuel, among other products, and focuses on the following exportable products:
- Ginger
- Charcoal
- Red Spanish pineapple
- Habanero chilli peppers
Currently marketed by the company in France and Canada, and soon to begin negotiations with Russia.
In line with the country’s policy of diversifying foreign trade, the company is working on developing other products for sale in the international market and is preparing
- Fruit pulp (mango, tomato, guava, avocado).
- Mango sliced and frozen and in natural form.
- Natural and frozen sliced papaya.
- Pineapple chopped and frozen and in natural form.
- Frozen yucca.
- Turmeric. in high demand in Europe and Asia.
The company is currently involved in three investment projects and is studying the new form of contract farming (promoted by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, FAO), in search of international commercial partners, which could attract high technology and thus generate a significant increase in production yields.
