Catherine Dorticós debuted as a children’s wear designer, showing her first collection in 2014 at the Fine Arts Museum (Museo de Bellas Artes) in Havana as part of a children’s runway show sponsored by UNICEF for the 25th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. The same year she received a special mention at the annual arts and crafts fair, FIART, for her embroidered children’s dresses. She has a new collection for Artisan Fashion Week with the same theme: creating elegant but comfortable clothes for children. In fresh, happy colours using fabrics such as cotton and linen, her pieces are are enhanced with artisan techniques like tucks, crochet, bobbin lace and beauvais embroidery. Her cute designs are age-appropriate and suit various occasions.
