Darwin Martínez had his first encounters with photography at age 5 with an old Russian camera. It was not until the 1990's that he acquired an Olympus camera and later on a Nikon N90s, He dedicated the following years to all sorts of photography and different experiments, Darwin is a member of the Cuban Image Fund and the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS), His photos have been exhibited in several galleries in Cuba and abroad. He participated and won prizes in contests for different institutions and web sites like Picture.com, His main work is dedicated to images having a specific influence on people, This photograph belongs to a photo group called "Maleconeando", It shows several children playing in the water at one of the natural pools off the Havana seawall known to locals as the Malecón, In the words of Darwin "if only people would look down, they might discover a new perspective on life, With this photo I can feel Havana telling me stories, secrets, sorrows and dreams, I tried to capture that happy moment created by the small things we do every day and that make us laugh, live and love no matter how much each of us might materially own".
