Cubarsquo;s International Tourism Fair (FITCUBA) 2016 will be dedicated to Cuban culture and Canada will be the country of honor (country representing Cubarsquo;s largest source of visitors whose number totalled over one million in 2014).

International Tourism Fair FITCuba 2016The event will be held in Havana, bringing together tour operators, travel agencies, and specialists from around the world anxious to learn about the products the country has to offer.

70 % of the Cuban coast is navigable for boats up to 26 feet long and anchorages are located in 40% of the bays, both in the northern and southern coasts.

In addition, Cuba has 3,900 kilometers of coral reefs and 50 coral species. With an average temperature of 25 degrees Celsius and wind ranges between 10 and 15 knots, nautical sports can be practiced throught the island most of the year. During the opening of FITCUBA 2015, attended by tour operators, travel agents and specialists from 40 countries with 120 from the U.S. for the first time, Cubarsquo;s Tourism Minister, Manuel Marrero indicated that tourism is booming in the country and hopes that this year the number of visitors will be greater than the 3 million tourists that came to the Island in 2014.

International Tourism Fair FITCuba 2016Marrero explained that hotel capacity is is being expanded, which currently covers 60,000 rooms across 300 hotels from well-known international chains working with local entities such as Gaviota and Cubanacán.

At the fair different Cuban hotel chains presented their products as well as marinas and other tourism-related entities. A special inauguration was dedicated to the countryrsquo;s Chair of Gastronomy and Tourism, whose objective is to protect culinary traditions and look at new gastronomic and dietary options.

FITCUBA 2015 included the exhibition of food and drink products and related items from 30 companies from the host country, Spain, Guatemala, Italy and Vietnam among others.
