This year’s third edition arrives after a well-deserved summer break.
We’re all now looking towards the end of the year and realising how quickly the time has flown.
We’re beginning the countdown with this edition, that starts circulating as FIH (Feria International de la Habana)—the annual Havana international trade fair—is taking place at the ExpoCuba exhibition centre.
Many thousands of participants have come to find out more about business and investment opportunities in Cuba and to learn about establishing commercial links with national and international enterprises. As in previous years the fair will host a business forum that will bring together businesspeople and entrepreneurs from all over the world interested in investing in Cuban projects, with an underlying goal of increasing contributions to the country’s socioeconomic development.
This edition’s circulation will also coincide with the International Crafts Fair (Feria Internacional de la Artesanía FIART) in December. The fair will this year take place at the Cabaña fort across the bay from Old Havana, since over recent years the numbers of international craftspeople wanting to take part has increased so much that the fair has outgrown its original location at the Pabexpo exhibition pavilion.
As always this quarter’s CubaPlus contains articles covering the healthcare services Cuban institutions offer to international clients seeking the perfect combination—high quality treatments for their health issues and improvements to their quality of life, while also discovering the beautiful island of Cuba and all it has to offer its visitors.
And of course culture plays its usual leading role across the issue with several important Cuban artists featured, and Cuban food gets a mention too with delicious and interesting recipes for you to try in your kitchen.
Finally, this edition’s cover image deserves a special mention. La Girardilla weathervane is the symbol of the Cuban capital and will be present in some form or other in every issue until the end of next year, because in November of 2019 Havana celebrates its five hundredth anniversary.
