The 14th Varadero Gourmet International Festival concluded this Friday with great success after three days of exchanging experiences and criteria regarding the evolution of Cuban gastronomy. Speaking at the closing event, the Vice Minister of the Ministry of Tourism (Mintur) Yamili Aldama highlighted the significance of this meeting and also invited those present to participate in the 15th festival that will take place next year dedicated to international fusion cuisine.
During the ceremony, the awards were given for the different competitions: cooking and gastronomic services, pairings, cocktails in classic and flare (free) categories. Among the winners were the teams from the Islazul hotel group, Gran Caribe, the Cimex corporation, Palmares, Meliá Cuba and Cubanacan. The latter received awards in all categories, including the recognition for the best entertainment team.
This 14th edition of the festival was attended by 78 exhibitors and 176 delegates, among other professionals from the sector. The closing ceremony was also presided over by Jorge Luis Acosta Paula, president of the organizing committee of the festival and director of the Palmares Extra-Hotel Group, Luis Martínez, president of the Cubasol Business Group and other officials from the government and the Mintur in the province of Matanzas.
