The achievement of a suitable balance between the environmental protection and the operation of protected areas in favor of the nature tourism and adventures
Is a top concern of Cuban authorities and consequently this 2018 begins with the arouse of wishes of many people in the world to find during their vacations a special place to have an active rest, either agro tourism or nature tourism as well as adventures.
Such a particular preference also impresses to the sustainable tourism program’s coordinator of the National Center of Protected Areas, Elvis Milian.
He explained that this Institution is assigned to Cuba’s Ministry of Sciences, Technology and Environment and it takes into account the development of the tourist industry but without being careless about operational capacity of the most visited places.
There are 211 protected areas identified in Cuba and with the exception of four nature reserves, the rest of them can be used in different tourism modalities, from National Parks on, that’s to say ecological reserves, fauna shelters and others.
Buena Vista region is an example of above mentioned place; located in the central part of the island includes the National Park Caguanes, National Park Caimanes, Cayo Santa Maria’s fauna shelter, as well as other protected places.
Six of these territories are included in the international category of Biosphere Reserve granted by the United Nations, Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
Just in the Cuban eastern region, there are two places classified as Natural Heritage, Desembarco del Granma National Park (in the province of the same name) and Alejandro de Humboldt National Park.
In these places the entry is allowed and according to the expert opinion, this fact should benefit such areas because the visitors who usually coming there are individuals who act consciously toward the environmental protection and they use to favor such spaces.
