With the presence of Cuban President, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, and Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero Cruz, the 38th edition of FIHAV, the most important commercial exchange in Cuba and the Caribbean, and one of the most prominent in Latin America, was inaugurated on Monday.
Speaking at the opening, Marrero Cruz, highlighted the large participation in the venue -some 400 businessmen from 62 countries- reflects the commitment of foreign businessmen to continue betting on Cuba.
Later he said the event comes at a time of economic transformations in the largest of the Antilles, among which a significant number of new economic actors such as Mipymes (Micro, small and medium-sized enterprises) and non-agricultural cooperatives have been incorporated.
He also referred to the importance of the activities to be carried out during the fair, including the 5th Business Forum, where the new portfolio of opportunities for foreign investment will be presented, as well as two panels dedicated to learning about the investment facilities for Cubans residing abroad and to update on the development of the Mariel Special Development Zone.
During the fair, which takes place at the ExpoCuba site until the next day 18, there will also be business meetings, business rounds, seminars and conferences, among other activities, and the celebration of the national days of some 20 countries.
The opening ceremony was also attended by the Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment of Cuba, Rodrigo Malmierca, as well as numerous government officials and representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in the country.
