The emblematic Lenin Park of Havana city is today 46 years old with signs of renovation and its hallmark of green lung of the city TO where a lot of families and tourists go every weekend.
Lenin Park located 25 kilometers south Havana,with 765 hectares of green areas have a favorable latching with concerts for adults and children and the organization of different types of fairs.
Administrative personnel of this park stated it was conceived in 1969 during the visit of the Cuban leader Fidel Castro to the neighboring water dam Ejercito Rebelde which was at that time a water reservoir in finalization phase.
The Cuban heroin Celia Sanchez promoted the idea with a date of beginning of the works in 1971 to be opened a year later.
Preliminary studies conceived the place as a park and recreational center with a defined character of wood and it was built in a wild zone without own vegetation where marabou predominated.
Lenin Park has 570 hectares of wood.It is part of the green belt of Havana, considered the biggest in the capital ;it has a fun park, big swimming pools , restaurants and they will renew a 19th century steam train to travel different areas.
The park also has an art gallery (Amelia Pelaez, honor the well known painter ad dead artist) and a ceramic workshop.
Amphitheatre, aquarium, rodeo land, swimming-pools, Marti forest (Jose Marti, Cuba National Hero) poets mountain and Celia valley, compose a very attractive landscape.
On September 2nd, 2017 this park reopened with the reconstruction of many of its areas,among them, its amphitheatre.
