Authors of 31 countries at International Book Fair in Havana

More than 300 companies of 31 countries confirmed their participation in the 27th International Book Fair, Cuba 2018, programmed in February 1 -11, in this capital, was announced by the Organizing Committee of the event. 

The vice-president of the Cuban Book Institute, Edel Morales, said in press conference that are confirmed so far 318 companies among intellectuals, authors and exhibitors, of them 104 writers, number that, he assures, will be increased. 

He highlighted that the program includes a wide spectrum in which will have a prominent weight the presence of China, honour guest country of the event. 

Among the foreign publishing houses that will participate in the fair are Ediciones Aurelia, Comics and Cuentos, Editora Popular, and Selvi Editores, in the meantime, Cuba will be represented for almost all publishing houses, Arte and Literatura, Nuevo Milenio, José Martí and Letras Cubanas, just to mention some of them. 

A greater importance will have Ediciones Boloña which will represent the work of the Havana historian and National Prize of Social Sciences Eusebio Leal, who is dedicated this fair. 

The director of the Editorial, Mario Cremata, pointed out that new editions of the tittle Fiñes will be marketed: La luz sobre el espejo, Hijos de mi tiempo and Eterna sapiencia, these last ones, he said, are two compendiums of speeches, conferences, and words of catalogs written by Leal for artists and other intellectuals. 

On the other hand, the chargé d’affaires of the China embassy in Cuba, Yao Fei, assured that the event will pave the way for a new framework in the cultural exchange and the cooperation between both countries. 

China will bring to the fair a representation of the best of its culture that will include an artistic group, outstanding writers and a selection of the most important editorial houses in the country, he emphasized. 

The 27th International Book Fair will have as main headquarters the Fortress San Carlos de la Cabaña, a fascinating old colonial military complex, besides other 22 spaces in several places of the capital. 

Dedicated to promote the best in the national and foreign literature, the reading festivity will extend to the rest of the Cuban provinces, and will be closed in May 13 in Santiago de Cuba.
