The Center for Environmental Research (CIMAC) completed on Friday the rehabilitation of an important beachfront in Santa Lucia, the main tourist destination in this eastern region of Cuba.
The actions were extended in the vicinity of the Planta Real hotel, having one of the highest housing capacity of the resort, and which improved the dune thanks to the dumping of sand, its better conformation, re-vegetation and cleaning. On the official website of the institution subordinate to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA), the specialist Isis Hernandez explained that it was possible to increase the beachfront in the main area by ten meters through the dumping of 4,243 cubic meters of sand.
The work of the group of researchers made it possible to 'rehabilitate 300 meters of beachfront, which contributes to the implementation of task three of the State's Plan to fight against climate change, known as Life Task,' set out CIMAC on Facebook.
This type of executive program intends to conserve, maintain and comprehensively recover the sandy beaches of the Cuban archipelago, which has just over 20 percent of the country's total in the province of Camagüey.
The various tasks carried out had the support of representatives of the Ministry of Tourism in Cuba, which promotes this area to the north of the territory, and where in turn it is emphasized in other projects to enhance the hotel infrastructure.
