Between Biennial and film festival, Havana in motion

The XV Havana Biennial continues to show its visitors the contemporary art of Cuban creators, a contest that will join hands with the film festival held annually in the capital of the island.

The Festival of New Latin American Cinema in Havana opens its doors from December 5 to 15, but the Biennial continues until February 28 immersed in a wide coverage of exhibitions, in unison for 10 days with the 45th edition of the film event, which will also have exhibitions.

The Cuban capital moves between cultural events when it also celebrates 505 years of its founding with the name of Villa de San Cristóbal de La Habana (1519), all of them important celebrations to embrace the old city. In this artistic context, we find along the emblematic Havana seafront immense works of art belonging to the Biennial, such as the collective exhibition "Behind the Wall," in homage to these five centuries and five years of establishment in these parts.

Always in front of the wall there will be much to see, as there is in its surrounding areas, as is the case of another legendary institution embraced by the waters of the sea: the Hotel Nacional de Cuba, which hosts year after year, the International Film Festival.

On this occasion, the film festival brings the novelty of combining traditional drinks and fruits of the country, with ocean products -such as coral- to create a drink in its honor: the Coral Cocktail, created by the hotel's bartender Ahmed Mesa and awarded in a contest held at the facility itself. To link this light drink with the seventh art, its author used seven ingredients, among them, the seven-year Havana Club and pineapple juice.

The Coral Prize is the award given to the winning works in the different sections in competition at the event. Everything is ready to open the doors of the Charles Chaplin Hall, the main venue of the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema, at 6:00 p.m. local time on December 5, while Havana visitors move between interactive, permanent, personal and collective exhibitions, who continue to love this city for its evident eclecticism.
