BioCubaFarma summons an international congress in Havana

The Group of the Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Industry of Cuba (BioCubaFarma) will hold the BioHabana 2022 international congress from April 25 to 29 in the capital's Convention Palace.

According to an official note from the organizers, this meeting has the purpose of carrying out a translation exercise of Life Sciences in Business Development, in a new scientific context, of innovation management, and health worldwide. .

Likewise, the participants will be able to debate their experiences and results achieved in the respective countries for the construction of alliances that allow a greater impact on public health.

As a small country with scarce material resources, Cuba has, however, achieved notable results in controlling disease, says the information, while warning about the need to jointly face the increase in the future and the burden of mortality from chronic non-communicable diseases in the world.

This important meeting will address the most relevant topics: the COVID-19 pandemic, medical technology and industry 4.0, chronic inflammation, cancer and autoimmunity; agricultural biotechnology and brain diseases.

Likewise, among the aspects to be analyzed are bioprocesses and innovation in new business models for high-tech sectors. 

The statement draws attention to the fact that the biological sciences are going through a stage of fundamental changes, similar to those that occurred in physics at the beginning of the 20th century and the main driver is in convergence with other sciences. Within this, it adds, the "global" nature of the challenges to human health (as the Covid-19 pandemic has illustrated),  the food, energy and environmental challenges, is increasingly evident.

Confronting the pandemic, adds the text, has revealed the response capacity of the scientific community and the biopharmaceutical industry, based on a multidisciplinary and inter-institutional approach that has achieved an unprecedented integration in the history of Biomedical Sciences.

"It is time to take advantage of the momentum generated in the last two years to face the post-Covid-19 stage," the note finally highlights.
