Golfers from Canada and Cuba won all the prizes of the 13th Edition of the Great Cuba Tournament Golf 2023, held in the main resort of the largest of the Antilles, in which participated 53 athletes from seven countries. For three days, from the 26th to the 28th, golfers, men and women, measured their skills on the green to complete the necessary golfers that conferred the triumphs.
In the Best Gross Gentlemen, the victory went to Guillermo Herrera (Cuba), while in the Ladies won Sophie Caron from Canada. In the first men's category the first position went to Eduard George (Canada), while in the second the award went to Sylvain Lapointe also from the northern country. In the Ladies Category the winner was Canadian Sophie Caron and in the women's competition skills in the proximity to the Dame flag (Hole 3) the victory was awarded to the also Canadian Josee Blondin and in that same specialty for men (Hole 8) the winner was Cuban David Villafaña.
This edition successfully concluded this Saturday, confirming the potential of the island as Golf destination, according to José Tovar, general director of the Varadero Golf Club, the construction several golf courses is a necessity in the country, since the largest of the Antilles is a place ideal for practicing this sport due to its climatic and natural conditions. The award ceremony was attended by the Minister of Tourism (Mintur), Juan Carlos García Granda, the delegate of that institution in the province of Matanzas, Narcia Valdés, the president of the Cubasol business group, Luis Martínez and the Comercial director of the Palmares Extrahotel Company, Felix Alonso, among other guests.
