The first Canchánchara, Tradition and Culture Festival ended this Sunday with great success, after three days of intense activity, where nationals and foreigners enjoyed fullness of that drink, as well as music, art exhibitions and the talent of artists from the country and Trinidad.
During the event, the public was able to enjoy the performances of renowned musicians and performers, including Waldo Mendoza, Haila María Mompie, Isaac Delgado and his orchestra, Maikel Blanco and his salsa Mayor, in addition to the presentations of Trinidadian tunes, downloads of troubadours and peasant music.
The photographic exhibition by photojournalist Raúl Abreu also captured the attention of attendees, who were able to learn details of the history of clay, an activity carried out by the Trinitarian Santander family, famous for having also been a great school for the people interested in that art.
During the day on Saturday, the Guamuhaya Archeology Museum inaugurated the show Sabor y Arte 7: Made in Cuba, with works by 30 Cuban plastic artists of which seven belong to the central region of the country. According to organizers, this first festival has been very successful, as it achieved a great participation of Trinidadians and visitors but, above all, because it served as a stage to prepare the largest Canchánchara in the world, 250 liters, which seeks to achieve recognition like Guinness Record.
This meeting is part of the celebrations for the 510th anniversary of Trinidad that meets at the beginning of next year and also celebrates the 35th birthday of the declaration of the city as Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
The event was sponsored by the Musical Recordings and Editions Company (EGREM), the Palmares non-hotel branch, the Artistic and Literary Promotions Company (Artex), the Office of the Conservator of the City and the Valley of the Ingenios and the Excelencias Group.
