Some 200 classic cars, known popularly as &almendrones" will deck Havana streets and avenues in a contest never before organized, when such an amount of those vehicles gather along the seaside avenue of &malecón".
Precisely in honor of the 499th anniversary of the Cuban capital, the hotel Packard was venue to a press conference, in which organizers of the event explained it will take place next December 15, previous to which on the first day of that month, car owners interested in participating will register their vehicles.
Organized by Iberostar HotelsResorts and the cultural project &Friends of Fangio", the contest will award the &Grand Prize Iberostar of the Year to the Conservation of Old Cars" to the best conserved vehicle with the most original mechanic components. A popularity prize will also be awarded.
The route to follow will be the Havana seaside avenue &malecón" in a distance of five kilometers separating the hotels Iberostar Havana Riviera , on Paseo avenue and Iberostar Grand Packard in Prado boulevard.
This initiative is included in the celebrations for the 500th anniversary of Havana, marked on November 15, 2019 and the 120 years since the arrival of the first automobile to Cuba.
In the press round participated the director of Marketing of Iberostar Cuba, Maria Barrera, the president of the Project Friends of Fangio (famous Argentine racing driver), Lorenzo Verdecia and the technical director of that initiative, Pablo &Aálvarez.
