Executives of the Artistic and Literary Promotions Company Artex SA, confirmed that the expected joint concert of the Cuban orchestras Los Van Van and Revé will be on December 9 at the Ciudad Deportiva, in the Cuban capital.
The show, in which two of the most important Cuban popular music orchestras will coincide on stage, is scheduled for 8:30 pm local time, and a large audience is expected, the organizers said at a press conference.
"It is an idea that we worked for a long time and finally materializes," agreed Samuel Formell and Elito Revé, leaders of the groups that canceled an earlier date for the damages caused by the passage of Hurricane Irma in September. "We want it to be a great party, a concert from Cuba and for Cuba," said Revé, who asked the attendees to carry the national flag to accentuate the commitment of the orchestras with the people.
On the other hand Formell referred to the details of the concert, which he defined as a "hand in hand" and where each group, in their respective scenario, will do their part and interpret a theme of the other taken to their style. Both musicians dedicated the performance to their parents, Juan Formell and Elio Revé Matos, founders of the orchestras, and considered two pillars of current Cuban popular music.
About the meeting the organizers underlined the special nature of the initiative, "for the value of both formations for music and popular culture, and the characteristics of the venue", a space that in March 2016 hosted the concert of the legendary British rock band The Rolling Stones.
Tickets for the meeting are on sale in various parts of the city, while foreigners interested in attending must purchase their tickets through the cultural tourism agency Paradiso. The joint concert of Los Van Van and La Revé is also sponsored by the Cuban Institute of Music and the Ministry of Culture of the island.
