Seven countries confirm to circus competition in Cuba
Artists of seven countries will compete in the Cuba’s IV Young Arena International Circus Festival that will take place here on March 6 - 9, the president of the Organizing Committee, Sergio Suárez highlighted.
Youths between 14 and 20 years of age coming from Argentina, Colombia, Chile, the United States, Mexico, Peru and the host country will participate in that contest, dedicated to the anniversary 40 of the Cuba’s National Circus Academy (ENC) and to one of its founders, the professor Roberto Luis Suarez.
In statements to Latin Press, the director of the ENC also underlined that the program includes presentations, theoretical-teaching activities, lectures and workshops in the mean host of that educational institution as well as in the Trompoloco big top, the Miramar movie theater and Kcho’s Art Study Laboratory.
He added that there will be meetings with professors of different generations and graduated students in this school, and an illustrated brochure will be presented with the history of the institution during four decades.
A jury which will bring together to outstanding personalities of the Cuban and World circus will evaluate the technician-artistic level of the proposal shows and it will award a great prize, first three places and the mentions that it considers.
Likewise, the Cuba’s National Circus will award a position to participate in the International Circuba Festival 2018 that will take place next July in Havana and in other island’s provinces.
There will be competitions in all circus modalities: acrobatics, gymnastics, juggling, magic, balancing acts and to clown around.
The announcement for foreign competitors will keep until next February 9.
The Cuba Young Arena Festival started in 1980 with national character and four years ago achieved international extent.
Belonging to the National Center of Art Schools, the ENC opened its doors in September 1977 with hardly 22 Havanan students and currently it counts on 86 students from almost the whole country.
