Cuba aims for men’s supremacy in world youth boxing championships

Cuba will compete this month in the world youth boxing championship in Alicante, Spain, with the goal of winning the title by countries in the male branch, the head coach of the team, Santiago Suarez, said.

Prensa Latina took advantage of the island’s squad’s preparation stay in the city of Tremblay-en-France, in the Region of Paris , to talk with the young but experienced coach and with some of the nine athletes who will fight for medals in the tournament scheduled for November 14-26.

According to the head coach, Kazakhs, Uzbeks and Americans stand out among the team strongest opponents, as well as some individuals from other nations. Both the head coach and the young athletes thanked the city of Tremblay-en-France and the efforts of the Cuba Cooperation France (CubaCoop) association, which is promoting a project to support the preparation of athletes from Cuba for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
